Has anyone ever purchased and used a Mico-Tech MAF sensor on an 1987 L98? Or any other manufacturer of MAF sensor for a C4. Garntinelli does not make one for an '87.

Thanks for your help....

whats the matter with the old one?

there is no problem with my stock MAF sensor..I just want to increase the flow...I am going to buy or make an open lid and purchase a K&N filter..I just heard from an LS1 owner that when he installed a Grantinelli MAF he said it made the largest improvement with the littles work!

You can always cut the screens off your existing MAF and also remove the little plastic thingies inside. Mic, haven't you done that? I've cut the screens off but I didn't remove the plastic thingies inside.

You can get MAF sensors from Vette' junkyards for about $40 or so; at least that's how much I paid. I'll look for their website and post it here later.

IMO, I think cutting the existing lid would be a much better choice than paying $60 for a cut lid. Or you can go out and buy a lid from the Vette' junkyard and cut that one; that's if you want a original lying around for whatever reason. I think I paid about $15-20 at the Vette' junkyard.

Here's that website...

I haven't dealt with him for over a year but if the company hasn't changed ownership, his name is Jason.

I've bought from him before and he's always been more than fair to me.

The LS1 and the L98 are two completely different cars. Do not waste your money on a "high performance maf sensor" and expect gains like the LS1 guys do.

Your oem maf can be modified to get the performance you want out of it.

Simply:

1. remove the screens on both sides
2. cut the cooling fins inside the maf sensor (optional and be careful if you do so as not to hurt the burn off wires in the maf or get them contaminated)

I think thats just about it.
