What's a MAT Sensor? Does an '88 L98 have one? According to my Haynes Manual they were not used 'till '92.

Manifold Air Temperature ; tells ECM what temp intake air is so it can perform it's calc.
Look under your plenum in behind # 7 injector.Has short 2 wire lead off main injector harness running to it.

According to my Haynes Manual

That is why people use the factory manuals;Haynes are %&*@ useless

Maybe your are confused with MAP and MAF sensors ; not MAT?
Three different items

My 86 has one, so I am sure your's does. Follow the previous post and you should find it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm trying to deal with a lean fuel mixture and one suggestion was to reroute this sensor.

Fix the root problem and do not move the MAT its not the cause. Unmetered air from a vacuum leak is usually the cause.

I think the intake temp sensor is called an IAT - Intake Air Temp sensor...

Put the hayne's in your 'library'. Tear a page, read, wipe, flush, repeat if necessary.

Got a tender :booty ? Might need to modify the procedure: Tear, read, KRINKLE, wipe, flush, repeat if necessary.

Get the FSM from eBay.
