I recently purchased a 1961 corvette, and I would like to take it to a good mechanic for an inspection and complete service. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in Southern California (preferably in the Los Angeles area).

Welcome aboard! :beer I don't have any mechanic recommendations, but what part of L.A. are you in?

Your in luck.
Call "The Corvette Shop"
Word of mouth only, not in the phone book..
Scott the owner is the best in our area.
(Been there over 20yrs, he's always busy but worth the wait)
Only a 2 man shop. But they know Vette's and have fair prices.
The shop is in Costa Mesa.

Tell him Mark with the Black 396 sent you.
You can thank me later.:beer :beer :beer

Thank you to everyone

I had to leave work early yesterday, so I did not get a chance to say thanks to everyone for the recommendations on a mechanic in the Los Angeles area. Since I live in Redondo Beach, I think that I am going to check out the guy located in Costa Mesa. Regards, and thanks again. John

John, I have a 62 'Vette that I got in June. I live in Palos Verdes.

So far, I'm getting all my work done at a (believe it or not) Midas Shop in Fountain Valley. :confused

Yep, you read right! A Midas shop! These guys build hot rods! They eat, sleep, and yep, tune, cars! Between brake jobs, etc. They pulled the engine on mine, had a local engine shop do a great job on a rebuild, and put her back together. They re-built the front end for me. I got the parts and they put it together. :J

Keeps the cost down, and they do know what their doing.

If your interested, I'm email you the phone number.

Hal, that's pretty cool! :cool You figure hot-rodders have to work somewhere, Midas is as likely a place as any! And they probably charged you a lot less than the thieving custom shop that I took my car to!
