I have enjoyed my vette for a month now and don't know if it is a problem or just not understanding the operation. I set the memory seat and about half the time, when I put the key in the ignition, the seat does not operate automatically. However, when I push the memory 1 button, then it operates. Am I doing something wrong for it not to operate automatically all the time?

Thanks,

The memory fuction has to know who put the key in the car - it never assumes.

How do you tell it you are getting in the car? 2 ways - push the unlock button on your fob (even if the door is already unlocked) or push the appropriate memory button on the door. Then it knows that you are getting in the car and will adjust the seat for you once the key is in the ignition and the door is shut.

When you get out of the car and leave it unlocked this happens - right! You get back in, put the key in the ignition, close the door and - there you sit, with the seat full back. Next time, use the fob to tell you Vette that you are about to get in again or remember to press the #1 button on the door.

Just think what would happen if your #2 memory was programmed for full forward seat position and the last person that got out used #2. Then you got in without pressing the button on the fob or the #1 on the door. If the car always went back to the 'last' setting, you'd be squished up against the steering wheel. Not a good thing.

If the door is opened and you put in the key it will not adjust your seat automatically, your door must be closed!

This discussion doesn't even begin to cover how really smart the Corvette is (presently the C5; however, the smartness will extend to the C6 as well (C6 may even be smarter than the C5)). To truly appreciate the "smartness", you need access to a Tech2 scanner. If you are on good terms with your dealer's service manager, ask for a demonstration of the Tech2 interrogating the On Board Diagnostic system - it will be a session you will never regret.
