Midyear Convertible Top Assembly - How Much$$$?

Hello, All,

I may have a chance to acquire a complete convertible top assembly for my '63. It is all there, but the frame is rusty (especially on the front, in the corners) and will need to be repainted and reconditioned (weatherstripping, etc.), plus, of course, it needs a new fabric top (it apparently has been stored away improperly for over 20 years). Should I be interested if I can get it for less than $700.00?

What is the going price for a convertible top assembly in this condition? What potential problems should I be aware of?

$700 sounds like a reasonable market price to me (I'm still kicking myself for not buying one back in the late 70's for $75 at a swap meet, but who knew?). Bare C1 top frames bring $1500+ in nice condition, and I think I've seen some C2 top frames go in the $700 to $1200 range on eBay.
