I'll be replacing the tires on my '65 in the near future and was curious about what other Midyear owners are using. My car is a driver so I'm only interested in radials. Here are my questions:

1. What size, brand and model are your tires?

2. Do you like them? Why or why not?

3. Would you replace them with the same or get something different? If the latter, what would you get?

Thanks,

Andy

Any incase I did not say it welcome abourd.Do you have a digital picture of your car? you should create an avitar of it so we can all enjoy it.

1. What size, brand and model are your tires?

I have to look at the size tonight they are slightley over sized for the car I had purchased them from a supplier advertized in hemming's.They were a no name tire and the side walls were ground down and then a yellow stripe was vulcanized on to look like yellow line original tires.I was going to get a set of cooker yellow lines but they did not have the size I wanted

2. Do you like them? Why or why not?

Yes I like them I think they look cool and feel great on the car.The only thing I dont like is the idea that matereal was taken off the tire (saftey reasons) but this is a car I do not drive in the triple digits in So I guess I am ok with them

3. Would you replace them with the same or get something different? If the latter, what would you get?

Yes I will replace them as time goes on I would replace them with bias ply reproduction tires. My car will always be a driver car but I think with all the other work I have done the radials distract from the cars originality.I will always keep my radials on a spare set of rims for a long ride

Andy,

I have 205/75R-15 Goodyear Regatta 2's on my 1963 Z06 for driving purposes. I also have 6.70-15 bias for shows

Andy, I have 205/70-15 Goodyear Integrity's, on KO's, on my 64. Also have the Integrity's on my 56 Vette and on my La sabre. I like them. If I were to replace the tires on my 64, I would stay with the Integrity's but change the size to a 215/70-15.

1. What size, brand and model are your tires?

I have to look at the size tonight

Mine are
P215/65R15

The name on them are daytona radial S/R I was told when I purchased them that they are a no name mitchelin brand.
I did have mitchellins on it and remember the treads being simular

I'm using P215/70R-15

Pep Boys Futura's. The whitewall width is close to right.

I like the 70 series width on a driver car. No scrubbing!

Sorry......couldn't resist. :D
What's the box of kleenex for? Crying over your bills again?? ;LOL

My "new" car has 235/60R15 Michelens on 8" GM Rallye's. I'm pretty sure ya can't go much bigger. There is some minor rubbing, the car sits as tho it has new springs. If I was to buy another set at this ride height, I think I would go with 225's but I can live with it the way it is, too. I'm thinking of going to those new 16" rallye's.

215/65-15 Dunlop 4000's...Have had them for 4 years on my '67 Coupe...Don't know if they even make them anymore...But do like Dunlops...

I am running National brand tires, size P215/75Rx15 on my 67 coupe. The reason i selected these tires, they have a white wall that is close in size to the type offered in '67, the tread pattern looks non-agressive, and they were reasonably priced. I don't drive my vette to hard, so I wasn't looking for a high proformance type tire, something that looks from that time period but performance of a radial. I have put acouple of thousand miles on them and they ride great. I have side pipes so I don't know if they produce road noise.
Hope this helps...
Good luck!

235/60/15 up front and 295/50/15 in back. Goodrich radial T/A's Yep I'll buy them again. Actually I have to right now for the front. Jerko who was restoring it told me the wrong backspacing and didn't realize it until after I had the wheels powdercoated. So, it's cheaper to get 215's up front and hope they give me enough clearance. Classic

midyear tires and wheels

I have 235x60x15 Michelin pilots all around on the 6 inch rallyes on my 67 427 convert. How did classic vette 63 get 295x50x15 on the back? What wheels are you using? I was hoping to use 8 inch torque Thrust IIs on the back with 4 inch backspacing and 7 inch with 4 1/2 inch backspacing on the front but I don't know if the 8s will fit on the back. I have the offset HD trailing arms and a big sway bar with 420 lb composite spring on the back and there does not look like the is room for 8 inch wheels. Does anyone have any experience with these wheels or the 8 inch GM rallye wheels ( what backspace)? Thanks for the help as I need more meat on the ground.

Gerry

Gerry, I mentioned in my post that I have 8" GM Rallye on mine with the 235/60R16's. I think I measured them at one time and they're 4" backspacing. Classicvette's gotta have the off set rear trailing arms for those big meats.

midyear tires and wheels

Thanks for the info, I checked the Goodrich T/A and they don't show a 295x50x15 tire available. Perhaps that was a misprint as I don't see how you could get that under the wheel well without tubbing the rear. As I said, I have the offset trailing arms and 8 inch rims might be the widest I can use. Did you do anything to fit the 8 inch rallyes on the front and are they 15 or 16 inch?

Gerry

No offset trailing arms, just big flares. Maybe I had the 50 and 60 switched. 295/60 and 235/50. Car is in the shop so I can't walk out and check. Classic
