Hey everyone

As most of you know, I will be flying into North Carolina this coming Friday to take possession of 1990 Calloway Corvette #36

I am bringing my wife along for the road trip back out to California

Since this is my 1st experience with a Calloway Corvette, what are the mechanical areas to be concerned with, are there any necessary spare parts to have with me, what are the most critical, would not try without tools, etc that I should really have before embarking on my coast to coast jaunt

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Worst case I am gonna wing it and see what wrath the car gods bring down upon my unsuspecting California a$$.....lol

Wild stories to follow

Odds are nothing will go wrong; but I would recommend a cell phone and AAA or other road side service just in case. Have a great trip home and let us know how it goes :beer

I would definetly check all the fluids, and change the oil. Even if the previous owner said he already did. Oil is cheap engines aren't. Enjoy your new ride, and let us know how it turns out.

Valentine 1 radar detector is a MUST.

That is a lot of long miles with a lot of long roads.

I hope youre driving a Call-A-way Corvette home and not a Call-O-way...otherwise someone took your money :L :L

I drove my b2k from NY to FL after purchase. Beware, the starter might get hot after several hours on the road so if you pull up for gas and it doesn't restart thats probably why.

I took no tools b/c I was flying up...it was an uneventful trip home. Id get some oil once you get there an leave it in the car til you get to know the car itself.

Good luck, youre gonna have a blast.

Wow, what a great way to first get to know your new ride!! So you bought the car sight-unseen? Please let us know your impressions of it, it certainly looks great in the photos! Best of luck on the ride back, it should be a blast!! :bu

Great Suggestions

Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions / recommendations

Radar detector is already bagged up for the trip

I will grab some oil and basic tools once I get on the road

AAA card and cell phones are also ready to go

I plan on wearing typical California attire (tank tops and flip flops..), but I will throw in a medium jacket and 32 pairs of white socks in for good measures....lol

Yeah, I bought the car sight unseen........I know alot of people cringe with the thought, but I have been buying / selling cars this way over the past 4 years with no problems (so far....ha!). Odds will catch me someday, but I usually insist upon 100% refendable deposit if I find the car not as represented by the seller, and I never make final payment until I have seen / driven in the car.

Worst case for the wife & I will be a weekend trip to NC and back

Seller of #36 sounds like a great guy and we have had numerous conversations about the car since i won the auction. I will always give a new person a chance to earn my respect and make a great 1st impression and based upon what i have seen in the pictures, read about in the forums, and learned from the seller, i think this car will be a blast

My biggest problem on the trip will be keeping the speeds down. I don't want any tickets, but you all know how mind melting it is to drive long distances at 65 - 75 mph posted speeds.

A friend of mine just flew out to Texas to purchase an 87 Buick T-Type (turbo V-6), and sure as sh!t, he got nailed in El Paso doing 85 mph

I plan on heading south to Lena, Mississippi (to visit my sister) after picking up the car and then shoot west along Hwy 20 / Hwy 10 / Hwy 91

Does anyone along this route know any places (other than El Paso....lol) that i need to be aware of speed traps / overly anxious Highway Patrol?

And finally to SurfnSun: It is a Call-A-way (I hope !), not a Call-O-Way....lol
I love cool cars, but I never said I could spell worth a sh!t

ARRIVE AND DRIVE!:_rock The only advice I have for you is to make sure the brakes are working before you leave- ;LOL

All the above suggestions are great - :upthumbs

When I picked up the SuperNatural Callaway, my friend and I drove 23 hr straight through to back home :eek

An overnight bag w/ a change of clothes, radar detector, and some snacks - nothing like a road trip :)

Enjoy your trip - hopefully you take a few days to see the sights at a standstill - Callaway Warp speeds blurr most pictures :eek

Enjoy! :m

Either make sure the spare is ok and/or take a can or two of fix-a-flat. If you take I40 and have the time get off at Seligman, Arizona a drive Route 66 out to Kingman. I think it is largest remaining piece of the "Mother Road" still intact. Great country.

I envy you. Have a good time.................

Have a good Journey,

when you have a last-minute cancellation due to the flu
I will fly over from Europe to fetch you the car cross country :D

NO PROBLEM :v

One day I will buy me a TT or SNAT and will try to find it on the westcoast so I can drive it back to New York for shipping to Europe :D

Never been to the USA yet but I can recommend the route 66 from the documentary I saw on discovery. WOW great landscape.
