Mirror Trunion

Hi!
I bought one of those "trunions" that all the Corvette catalogs say will repair a wobbling drivers' side mirror (you know, "if your electric mirror works, but the glass wobbles, a broken trunion may be your problem!"). I looked in the service manual and did not find a schematic that helped as to how the mirror glass came off so that you could put the replacement trunion on. Has anybody done this replacement, and does the mirror glass just pop off or is there something else that needs to be done?

Thanks,
/s/ Chris Kennedy

The mirror is pressure-fit onto the trunion, it just snaps into place. To remove the mirror, rotate it all the way outside and put your fingers under it, then snap it out.

Often it isn't the trunion itself that causes the wobble, but two philips head screws, all you have to do is tighten them up and you'll be good as new.

Thanks---This morning I did as you suggest and all is fine. You were right about loose screws being the main problem, and since I had the trunion I slipped it in anyway. All is well now.
