Mirrors and defog switch

Was wondering how to get the side mirrors off on my 81. Im having problems with my defog switch too. When i flip the switch to the on position it will light up but the light goes out as soon as it goes back the the original position. Any ideas?

The defoger problem is most likely the relay or timer. I'm not sure what it is you are asking on the mirrors, but they are a pain to get off. To get to the nuts that hold them on you have to remove the glass from the door first. Then you can use a 1/4 drive socket to reome them.
