Steel Half-Shafts

Guest
Well, I installed the Mobil 1 M1-207 oil filter today on my 90 ZR-1, and I'm really impressed by it. :)

No Cam Chain Rattle on startup and the oil pressure was "right there" in 1 or 2 seconds!
Very well made with extra heavy base plate and body construction.

I've been using the Fram #3985, but after seeing the LT5 Oil Filter Analysis article in the latest LT5 Registry KOTH magazine, felt The Mobil 1 was a better choice.

Of course I had to paint it Black like the OEM for the Shows, Rob :D

Sounds like you found a filter that you like. I'll tell you this, you never know what you've got until you cut it open. Routine preventive maint at the power plant entails cutting open filters, engine and others, to inspect for debris/parts. They are by no means "ALL ALIKE"!!! Some have more paper, less paper, junk porous paper, and various construction qualities. Fram has not been my pick since I "LOOKED INSIDE"......

You're Right, DDL-81

I should have checked out the construction qualities!

I was using the Fram only because it greatly reduced the Cam Chain Rattle that a lot of the ZR1/LT5's have on startup.

However, it doesn't make sense to trust a $20,000 motor to anything but a Good Oil Filter. :)
