Can anyone advise on the proper location of the Mobile 1 5-30 emblem that goes under the hood. I,ve been advised a couple of different "correct" location but I thought someone might really know..thanx..............:confused

Also where can you get one. My hood was done over by previous owner & I'm missing it.

As to location, most I've seen are center bottom of the big flat section.

i got a brand new one in a package from Corvette Central for 9.00

The emblem goes in the center of the hood on the flat spot above the radiator. I didn't drive mine to work today, however, I will try to get you some pictures tomorrow. This is also the same spot that the "Assembled in Bowling Green Ky" plaque was located on earlier C4's. Anyway I will post you some pics of where it is situated under the hood.

I think the Mobile 1 “rectangular plaque” was done away with in 96. The information that was on the plastic plaque was silk screened onto the oil fill cap, was it not? ;shrug

I'll check a couple at the next race. Can't tell from mine, hood was painted.

Sounds good froggy47,
If I happen across another LT4 owners car, I’ll see if I can’t inquire about the plaque. I took a look in my Corvette Black Book, no information was given on the discontinuation of the underhood plaque.

My LT4 was built in late June of 96, I can’t find any evidence (glue/adhesive residue) of a plaque being affixed under the hood.

I don't think they came on the 96. Anyone know for sure? Guy

Mine dunno got it either. Must notta come with it.

I think chevy put them on until they ran out of the emblems... I am not sure if this was in early '96 or late '95... I am pretty sure they just didn't want to order more when they knew the C5 was about to come out anyway.

Hey! I wonder if the subtracted weight of the plaque from late build LT4 cars lessons our 1/4 mile times and increases our trap speed! :L

If ricer’s stickers can add a perceived 25 hp, than actual mass reduction has got to give us a boost! ;LOL

There ya go, common sense answer.:D

Thanx for all the replies...this question came up as I was at a corvette car show and had a point taken off for the missing emblem. I had heard the same that GM put them on until they ran out which was in the middle of the run. Mine was one of the last one's built so I was sure they ran out way before mine. The "judge" showed me his checksheet which had the Mobile 1 emblem listed on it for 1996. Got a 99 and came in 5th.? Shows ain't what they use to be.....

They really need to address the issue. There have always been variables in Corvettes.

Example:
Varying parts on the line is not new to Corvette. I’ve read of 327 midyears that had the 427 hoods installed because they ran out of the 327 (standard) hoods! Not wanting to slow production, the solution was to throw a Big Block hood on a 327. This is considerably different than what we are discussing here, but the judging manuals need to note that late build cars were sans Mobil 1 plaques. The details need to be recorded so that in 20 years, the cars are judged accurately.

Another example was a 94 coupe I had. It was an early build car and it came with a 93 airfilter housing. Black plastic with “rolls” vs. the 94 and up metal slotted housing.

I hope that future Corvette judges will be are aware of these things, otherwise it will be a frustrating experience having to defend ones car.

Which is why I register as "Display Only":D

I am not all for this originality stuff.... When GM makes the car, they make it to 'fit' a vast majority of people... not to individually fit each person. I do what I want to my 'vette, and don't worry about having it judged at shows.... too many politics and other garbage usually surround it all anyway:(

It's on the cap, not the hood on my ride. Does a 2X4 Confederate Battle Flag decal over-do it?

A word to the wise, don't leave your car un attended with the hood up at a car show. I did, and it appears that someone decided to help themselves to my mobile 1 emblem.:mad

I don’t even want to think what primal instinct would surface in me if I caught someone lifting a part off of my beloved LT4.
