I have a friend who is 6'6" and has always loved sharks. Now that I have one, his interest is renewed, but he still doesn't fit in them. He is guessing he would need to gain 3 inches to the rear and sit 3 inches lower (even with the extra room that glass tops give over solid ones).

Has anybody found an aftermarket seat that will give the additional clearance required for a 6'6" guy to fit in a C-3?

Has anybody tried anything more drastic such as cuting up the seat pan, pushing the battery farther back to let you bolt a stock seat farther to the rear?

Thanks,
Culprit

I'm 6'2" and I'm "somewhat" uncomfortable even after trying everything with seat back tilt, attempting (not successful) to move the seat backward. I understand that the glass t-tops used on later sharks will give you somewhat more headroom (2 inches is what I read). No luck on replacement seats either.

If you find a seat that is lower, let me know!

I'm 6'2" and the glass tops made all the difference in the world. It's still a bit cramped in the shoulder area, but I now have plenty of headroom. I have known people in the 6'4" to 6'7" range with C3's, but never heard them complain about not fitting.

I am only 5' 12" but have an one piece astro top and the origional Tee's there is more headroom with the astro top. I also have different seats from the origional that have less padding (or foam) in them and the "doorstop" on the bottom of the seatback has been replaced with a thinner one to allow the (drivers) seat back to recline more then the passengers.
You could always drive with the tops off:L

When the tops are off, it's fine. Is the Astrotop an aftermarket plastic roof that covers the opening like a 1 piece plastic top? There was discussion about these last year on the site. Apparently they leak (badly) but they do gain 3 inches or so. If I could find one used, or see one before I bought it, I would consider it.

Since you have one, any comments on it?

only drive on sunny days with the tops off. Maybe a bubble t-top could be made.

btw, 6ft here, no isssues except for bumping my glass tops from time to time when i turn around to look out the back.

Kind of makes you wonder what "little" engineer help design the C-3.

When the C-3 was new, I was 6'2", in school and broke . So I could not afford one :cry

Riding in the C-3 is was alot easier than getting to drive one.

Yes the astrotop is a one piece acrylic plastic top that covers the whole area. http://www.astrotops.com/
I love my astro-top, my only comlplaint is that when stored behind the seat it just barely fits, but I have speakers and a CD changer there also. As far as leaking it is much better then my T-tops, but I could use new weatherstripping. Before I had the astro top whenever I drove in the rain I would get quite wet.
they screw on rather then clamp which some people find annoying
(parts to lose).
The view of the Stars at night thru the blue tinted astro top is quite a sight to see.
Someone pointed out in a previous thread that they will be at Carlisle with some kind of a deal.

I'm 6'6" and barely fit with the the wheel tilted up and telescoped out with glass tops. I almost got broadsided running out in from of oncoming traffic once because my size 14 foot hit the gas and the brake...with a little more pressure on the gas side.

Go with glass tops or remove the inserts from the hard tops and figure out how to dress them up.

It's a real pain being this tall in a Vette, but we all know it was more painful to not have a Vette!

I got to drive a Ferrari 355 Spider once and I was literally looking over the top of the windshield. That wasn't going to stop me though once the offer was made.
