mods worth it

Hi, KOPBET

I did get mine from ebay used and had to make the same question to the previous owner, he told me that; in order for him to sell it he had to re-programm his car back to stock to clear the programmer (once you connect it to your car it reads your VIN and records every change you make but keeps the factory settings of your car in its memory). As soon it arrived I changed the temps to turn on-off the fans (I have a 160* T stat), the top speed limit, the top engine revs, the ignition timming, the revs shiftting points (its an auto), the shiftting firmess and the speedometer-odometer factory settings. (I changed rear axle from 2.59 to 3.54)
I guess my vette is married to the programmer because I can't go back to stock because the rear end change! Before the programmer; when I was going 60 m/h the speedo was marking something like 90 m/h!
I'm not really sure if what he told me about going back to stock and then you can use it in other VIN is truth or they do something else before they sell it. But there's always a lot of them for sale on ebay!
The long headers and the rear end change are the two mods that I love the most (every body should try this)!!!

Thanks & enjoy your vettes!
George

Hey Vettered91,

How did you handle your cats with the long tube headers? Did you just weld them on somewhere down the line, and how did they fit?

I bought the vette stock from the original owner with 29 k miles last january and 3 days latter I took off the cats and put the Magnaflows on. I installed the headers just two monts ago and what a difference they make!

The laws here just say you need to pass the smog test, nothing about the cats. But I think up there you have more restrictions with the Federal laws!

I agree as well, stick with the K&N/open lid and a good cat-back (not just mufflers)....then later go for the biggie - the rear gear upgrade. Like the fellow said in the other thread, I'm not a fan of Flowmaster either....get yourself a much better catback, you can do that at about the same price that the crap ugly annoying Flowmasters are sold. I have the Magnaflow SS catback as well - a much better deal, I HIGHLY recommend it!
