Here's my 91. I also have an 88. The 91 is as good as it gets. All the refinememnts of the corvette in general are there as far as the B2K is concerned. The 91's also share the same oil cooler as the ZR1's and it's a big advantage aswell. As far as power is concerned, the stock 91 will make more power than a stock previous year B2K, unless you go thru the trouble of installing the infamous wonderbar. 91's are also speed density which = no MAF restrictions. My 88, which had the wonderbar installed by me, which allowed me to witness the before and after I noticed the following. The wonderbar along with an aftermarket air filter seemed to allow the power to come in a bit sooner, and boost up a bit quicker. As far as under hood temps go, the 91 underhood temps are definitely lower, especially when the car is not moving, since the scoops allow for the heat to escape thru the hood, rather than being trapped under.

Ok, so in some of the info I got about this 1990 non-aero car, there is some stuff of interest regarding 1990 vs 1991 Callaways.
So, I assume then that this means it still has the side air intake. Does the 1991 Callaway have a Wonderbar? Does the ET pipe feed into the center of the Wonderbar vs the side of it, or does it just have a whole different thing? If it is totally different, which is better from a flow perspective? The 1991 only went up to 403hp from 390hp of 1990. Was that just being conservative, or did a stock 1991 make about the same power as a stock 1990 (both being conservative in their official ratings)?
1990's still feed fromthe side - on 1991's, the ET pipe does "drop" the air in from the top and feeds "out" to the turbos like the other years
I was told that the motors are all about the same between 1988-1991 with differences in air inlets and the MAF -vs- MAP sensors and hp ratings were primarily differend due to the rpm's they "tested at"...
1990 made 390 hp at 4250 rpm
1991 made 403 hp at 4500 rpm
(88 and 89's made 382 hp @ 4250 rpm, just for comparison)
(...I personally think they ALL made more power than that :upthumbs )

The second upgrade is of course the 1991 hood scoops. The bulletin claims a 150% increase in airflow to the intercoolers, which reduces intake air temps by 100(!) degrees. Surely this has to have a larger affect than just 13 hp...
...the scoops will make those with them more consistent - a cold intercooler makes more consistent power than a warm one - SurfnSun experienced a touch of this on the Dyno with a hot set of intercooler - Turbo cars love cold & dense air :D

Also, the 1991 specs page mentions a fuel requirement of "super premium unleaded". The 1990 page has no such row on it. What the heck is super premium? 93 octane vs 91? Do you all gas up at normal gas stations?
I gas up at Mobil or Exxon stations (all 4 or 5 times I have gone and filled up ;) ) 93 octane is sufficient - these cars were designed to run on premium unleaded pump gas - Hope this helps :m

Edit: speaking of the CAC model center, how does one note if info is wrong? I noticed it mentioned 1991 being the year the oil level monitor debuted,

An 81 vette was the first year with a oil level monitor (gauge) ;)

Nice threat to! Just the things i wanted to know :)

Groeten Peter.

1990 was the first year for speed density (MAP). The upgraded Wonderbar is the single most effective power adder to a stock TT. Intake airflow is greatly improved.

What? 81 had optional oil temp gauge apart from oil pressure, 82 had the oil temp gauge as standard equipment because the clock was in the radio...where is the oil level gauge?

So do you all think the big wonderbar makes the 88-90 = 91? Or makes them a bit more powerful?
Im going to say it makes it more powerful than the 91s, based on my experience.

Big Wonderbar, plus cone air filter, no cats = 406rwhp/536rwtq with blazing hot intercoolers. ambeint temps around motor where 150-170.

Add 2.75" true duals = 425rwhp/575rwtq running a tad lean. more fuel would have netted 600rwtq. Again shop temps 90+ degrees...intercoolers doubled as grills for fajitas :D

Damn, had that one almost right :D But indeed i ment oil temp not oil level...

Did the radiator change for 1990? The car I saw had no radiator cap on the radiator, instead it was over by the back of the engine bay on the passenger side. It was like the newer cars that have a pressurized overflow tank instead, except there appeared to still be an overflow tank up front on the driver's side. It seemed pretty weird.

Also, FYI, the upgraded wonderbar on this car had the inlet in the center, not on the side like I saw on Chris's car. So maybe it's basically the same/similar to the 1991 one? I dunno...
In 1990, the radiator DID change to a "slanted" design - the cap moved to the resivoir up by the firewall where you described...

The wonderbar that was upgraded could be one of two "slightly different" 1990 designs however, only the 1991 fed from the top center w/ the "ET" neck and the filter up front of the radiator - where was it on this car?? 90's should have a Callaway air box behind the passenger side fog light :cool

Hope this helps - Chris

Yes, the airbox was in the passenger side front well. But it fed over to the center of the wonderbar. I remember on your car at the NOVA show that yours fed over to the side of it, and it looked like the neck was aluminum. On this one it was black, and quite a bit larger of a neck.
Upgraded Wonderbars eliminated the alumn. elbows...

So why are there two reservoirs for the coolant then? There was the clearish white one up on the drivers side well. :confused
I'll have to see a pic - maybe another has seen this :confused

I think if the price gets more realistic it will get more action. Nice color combo.

The more I think about it, the more I think that was the washer fluid reservoir. The owner was the one telling me coolant gets added up by the clear bottle. I really didn't look at it. I did open the black tank on the back passenger side to check the level and condition of coolant and to look for crust around the cap. I guess it's a good thing he said he's never actually added coolant to the car if he didn't know where it goes... ;)
Just to come back on this question. I'm not a c4 driver, i only take a sneak preview under my friends 86 convertible so i could be wrong on this one...
But i found this picture of Steve's CR1 on the COG site.

In the left front is that the reservoir you're talking about? If that's the one this is indeed the coulant reservoir! On my friend's 86 it's in the exact same location only he doesn't have the radiatortank on the passangerside. This is a 90 CR1 so i have to be the same as the 90 you viewed... :) I think...
Why there is an extra of extended radiator reservoir on the late c4's that i don't know, maybe they changed the radiatorschroud so the pressurestop wasn't excesable anymore.. or not good enough..

its polo green

thank u very much. sunday i drove it to foxwoods (78miles one way) longest trip i taken by myself since my stroke. late on way home on rt 395 and rt 95 i flew when no traffic. 55 degree outside air temp and 115mph on cruise control go well together. i was shocked when i got home and noticed full tank of gas was down only one quarter. 6th gear does it i guess. it looks black in pics but its polo green. callaway says the only POLO GREEN FACTORY ORDERED TT CONVERTABLE they produced.

Jim, That's great that you were able to take it out & about! I know you have been off & on considering selling it however, drives like that must really drive you to keeping her :)
The gas tank thing - you must have been in boost a lot, using those two (HUGE) injectors for the Microfueller ;)

Enjoy :m

156 miles round trip

used a sliver above 1/4 tank, i thought fantastic.
