More docs for my '72! Contacting previous owners

Wooooo!
I just got a package last night with a bunch of recipts from the previous owner along with the vehicle title of the owner prior to him! I'm psyched, especially after having my car for over a year! I'm considering how to go about contacting them...What I have is a PA title that shows the owners as probably a husband & wife. I did a search on bigyellow.com and found that these two people now live in different cities (close proximity) in PA. I assume they are now divorced...
The car was sold by them on consignment in Jan '99.
I'm considering contacting the guy first, via snail mail & including a recent pic of my car.
Also, the PA title has a "date titled" date of 8/86 & a "date issued" of 1/90. Can somebody explain that?
Any advice appreciated! I don't wanna blow this opportunity!

I'm gonna guess that "date titled" means that they had a loan on the car and it was titled to them and that "date issued" is when they paid the loan off and received the actual title to the car.

Sounds good.......kind of like researching the family tree......
Other than sentimental value, have you heard how much having documentation adds to the value of the car?? I'm curious since I have the Protect-O-Plate and the original paperwork from where my wife's grandfather ordered the car from the Chevy dealership in Vietnam while serving a tour of duty. He kept everything!

I think, that in Pennsylvania, the "date titled" is the date the car was FIRST titled in PA. It likely had previous PA owners. It was likely brought into PA and first titled there on 8-86. Chuck

Well, it's been almost 2 weeks since I sent the letter (I used the Hemmings approach found on their website) & have yet to hear from the guy. At this point, I'm thinking this stranger will use the pics to sell my car on E-bay and scrub the stamp off the s.a.s.e. I sent to stick on the bill payment to his shrink. I felt a little uneasy sending it...at the last minute I put the return address for my work rather than home, but I did include my home #...should have gave my work cell instead...doh! Can you tell I'm a little paranoid?
This won't stop me though, I have one person left to contact...I think it may be the guys wife. I'll wait a few more days and send letter #2.
If that gets me nowhere, I'll contact the PA DOT & do a title search & go back further in time! Maybe find a 2nd PA owner?
