After more than 900 miles, I'd like to pass on some additional feedback from driving the project.

It's physically exhausting, but very satisfying. Examples: Without power steering, getting in and out of parking lots, etc. is very difficult at slow speeds with the large front rubber. And, the VB&P suspension change has somewhat limited the turning circle (although I was aware of this in advance). The CenterForce Dual Friction Clutch is heavy, but still easier on the leg in traffic than the old L-88 clutch. Downshifting the Richmond into 1st still requires a hard "push", but it's getting better.

But the main reason that it's physically exhausting was best described by a woman I took out for a ride at lunch today. She's a long-time good friend, and felt no hesitation in describing the ride as the best sex she's had in years, and way, way more exhausting. As she got out of the car, she said, "I'm on an adrenalin high ;) Send me flowers in the morning!"

The car is a joy to drive on smooth multi-lane highways, but in town the "person-hole" covers are driving me mad. You don't realize how bad the settling of those covers is until you've hit them with this suspension. After Bowling Green, I'm going to back off one hole front and rear to test the adjustment results. Meanwhile, I'm doing the ricer swerve-dance trying to avoid them.

Due to a) the curiosity of some drivers, and b) the jealousy of others, too many people climb right up my back in heavy traffic. Therefore, I'm going to move the backup light control from a micro-switch on the shift linkage to a switch under the dash. Get too close and the lights above the license come on.......

This car is so removed from the comfort and finesse of later models as to be from a different planet. Few people would enjoy more than a 20-minute ride, but oh what a 20-minutes. :D I've learned to wear light clothing (it gets very hot in the cabin) and ear plugs at anything over city speeds.

C'mon Bowling Green. :_rock

I think you just notice the Idiots that follow to closly more in a Vette then you do in your tahoe they fill up the mirror. When I get in city driving I under stand why some people prefer the softer suspension, but in time you will find the setting that best suits the majority of your driveing.
How long has it been since you have driven any Vette?

Other than short test drives in friends' cars, 20 years. ;)

Boy you have a lot of catching up to do,;)
for me it was 30 years between Vettes, I had forgotten how much fun driveing was ;)

The '67 ride is kinda like "THE RIDE" at the fair that you would wait in line for hours to get on. It makes you crap yourself, lose your stomach, scare the bagibers outa ya, be hoarse from screaming and yelling, everyone in the place is watching you go by and finally when it stops what's the first thing you do? .................................Run out the exit as fast as you can right back into line to be next to go back on again! It gives you the thrill you long for and there isn't much else can fill that void! Worth the wait and won't let you down! Amazing ride and I'm back in line so please let me know when it's my turn again! :upthumbs :lou

How about you help me re-install the front stainless, then we'll go for a ride.

Then, help me re-install the rear stainless and we'll go for another ride. :D

Sounds fair to me! Just make sure I get the dates straight though OK?;) ;LOL

Doug, hold out for a better deal.
how about this:
one PIECE of SS trim for a ride, than another section of SS trim for another ride........ without looking at all the pieces of SS trim from my car sitting in the garage that's approx 11 pieces between the windshield and rear window and therefore 11 rides!
you know Bob won't mind the extra rides, he just looking for any excuse to take Heaven out for a spin
:D

I was trying to convince Doug to move to Ohio......I have a few projects here and there in the garage that I figure since Heaven did some training, I could use his talents........he told me no such luck......geeez.....just trying to share!!!

Bob,

I think we spoke about the settings when we first discussed the VB&P suspension but I can't recall where you finally set yours. I still have mine at the second hole (from the outside) but think going in one more hole would give a better ride without hurting the handling. You probably won't notice much of a difference on the highways but you will likely feel quite a difference on the secondary roads - and the speedbumps. :Steer

Rich
p.s.: I'll refrain from making any comments about your passenger's thoughts regarding the ride you gave her today...............:D

Bob I am runing a set of strobes in my siverado.

I have them in my rear tail lights and in my back up lamps, any time I have some one up my tail I just hit them with the strobes and they wake right up and back off.I am not sure if they are legal or not but I use installed them for plowing.

Ohhhhh, I like that. Tell me more. Did you have to modify the light housings to add the bulbs?

Details please. :gap

Bob

this is the set I have in my truck,
http://www.strobesnmore.com/

its real BRIGHT. you have to drill a 1" hole for the bulbs and they need room away from the lense. They give off alot of heat. Real simple to install once you get the bulbs installed in a safe place.

I was going to install a set in the DeVille for parade duty but there was no safe place to the bulbs in the tailight.

Good luck I will see if I can take a photo of the bulb in place and post it tonight

Hmmmm. I wonder if I could just remove the stock backup bulbs and sockets and mount the strobe bulbs in their place?

The '67s have the perfect spot for the white bulbs, don't they. ;)

I could have written EXACTLY the same summary after the first few hundred miles in my Grand Sport (its first outing was a 500-mile round trip to Norwalk for the "Run 'N Gun" track event - left home with six miles on it), but in a similar vein, "Oh, what a ride!" :D
