Does anyone know where I can find engine pics for the L98 and the Crossfire engine? I am looking for good quality GM pics like the ones on this site for the LT1, Lt4, LT5, LS1, and LS6. Larger pics of those engines would be nice also.
I have also been searching for a tech paper for the L98 vs LT1. I can't find anything.
I'm bringing the bosses digital camera home tomorrow night, what kind of pictures do you want of the crossfire. I have an 82 crossfire intake with throttle bodies sitting in my living room, but its kinda old and dirty. I could take some pictures under the hood of my 84 if you want.
jim coulter,
I have never seen a crossfire in person, so any pics that show good detail are welcome. Thanks.
I like that exploded view of the Corvette.
I'm trying to learn as much as I can about each of these engines. LT1, LT4, LT5, LS1 and LS6 are pretty easy to find info for. The older engines are difficult.
Twin throttle bodies (TBI) on a cross ram manifold. It's a wet induction system where the injectors (2) are located above the throttle plate. It's like a carburetor w/ an 9injector on top of it.
The system is speed density (MAP) controlled.
The CFI is notorious for poor performance but with cheap and simple mods they can be made to run. One og the members on the crossfire vault (link above) has a supercharged CFI and is now building it w/ an offenhauser crossram (a large crossram amnifold). Another one has built a system based on the STR-10 edelbrock, similar to the offy.
The latest variaty is the SY-1 smokey ram w/ custom top pate. All of these guys have larger TB's, some are downright huge.
The numbers should start coming in pretty soon, with these large crossrams 400Hp is a walk in the park, depending on the other parts of course.
