I get my car back on Monday-no matter what.

I know it's stereotypical, but we women do shop sometimes to appease the soul. So, having said that...
I'm needing to buy bolt-ons for power. No manly vrrroooming outta the exhaust, but enough growling so folks know I mean bidness!

Then--- I went through my parts mags and priced stuff. Oh boy. OH MAMA!!!

Ram Air, supercharger, HP differential, cat-back exhaust, 58mm throttle body upgrade, performance chip, shorty Hooker headers,
ummmmm....

What is a girl to do? Any suggestions?

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Once you get into it, there will always be something that either you need to finish the project correctly, or there will be something more you want to add that will keep the costs rising. Always pad your budget by at least a third of the estimated total cost. ;)

As for suggestions as to how to approach this quest for power, there will be plenty of suggestions here, I guarantee it! :upthumbs

Good luck in your search for the right horse. :bu

I would do the gear before the chip because it will need to be re- programmed, I am pretty shure thats how it works with the 93 and older because 94-up you can flash the PCM and recalibrate the speedometer...

Do the Ram air and the exhaust first.. if you really want a cheap but very effective upgrade install a gear like a 3.54 or 3.73 or whatever..

DONT buy anything from the vette mags. Theyll rape you blind and most of that stuff doesnt give any real hp.

With an LT1, the thing youll get the most bang for the buck is from gears changes. Youll need to have the speedo reprogrammed as well. For an automatic, 3.54 or 3.73 depending on how many hwy miles you put on. For a 6speed, 4.10 is the only way to go.

Dont buy a hypertech chip or any other until you are done with your modifications totally. However, you can probably get someone on here to reprogram your chip for fan settings and the like very cheap in comparison.

Corsa is the best catback for LT1s, its not loud until you step on it, then it screams.

Other than a K&N filter and TB bypass, you dont need any other mods unless you want to get serious. Then youll need to look at LT4 hotcam and Hooker 2149 headers. (Shortys are worthless)

1. Uh..., Len, a "manly vroom" is that teeth rattling, window shaking, eardrum splitting, sometimes Flo-master ka-boom-vrooming I can also feel from 5 blocks away. A couple of my buddies did some revs in my driveway yesterday. Shoot. I think they hurt my dog.

2. Jesus, Vader! You scared me. The word 'rape' was enough to convince me. I get it. Don't buy from the parts mags. Yikes!

3. Everybody else also, thanks for the feedback. I've got the flat K&N filter already, but am changing to a 3 conical filter job. I'm off to the performance shop to get a 3.73 gear upgrade, throttle body bypass is ordered and check out Corsa and Borla exhaust.

But Flowmasters kick so much @$$!!! :L

I'm with Chang Tzu

I like my Flowmasters but foind the headers banged more per buck than anything else. most of the tweaks being raved about are less-than-scientific, IMHO. Guys will swear of improvements, but................ Oh, let them. I'll never do headers again without wrapping them. The underhood temp increase is real tough on plastic (sensors, wiring, etc.) and the ceramic coating is nice for smoothing boundary layer flow insides, corrosion and appearance, but does naught for the heat issue.

Doubt the 58 mm will do you any good with an essentially stock motor.

I am looking at dumping my 3.73s for a 3.36 or 3.54, in that order. the stock motor had no hi revs; the new 406 just spins the 315x17s. What a problem to have. :s

Sounds like UR having fun. :cool

Oh that 58mm TB will just be a waste of money. Unless you're putting a big block motor in there, 52 would be enough. And 52 is with some major mods.

Dennis--Won't be too soon, I'm afraid. Other issues demand more attention.

A 52mm BBK feeds my growling 406 just fine, all the way to max revs. A 58 MAY do something, but it might lower the intake velocity and worsen low end performance. :w
