Aloha Sir C-4/5 specs. I'm getting a '85, Dana 36 rear end, will I have any diffilculty in swapping it out to my '91 vette? Will I just be able to take the 2.59 out and put the 3.07's in,with no problems? and will I be able to use the same speed sensor? Mahalo's!! (Side question about that problem my friend was haveing with that sensor again!) the one that you said for him to check to see if the wire was stretched before replacing the sensor? I hope you remember, it was on the C-5 side that I wrote the question. anyway, he would like to know the voltage it should read when he checks the wiring to locate which one was stretched!! Thanks again!

HI there,
First, no, there is not a problem swapping out the 36 on your car. It will bolt right in, however, your speedometer will NOT be correct.
For this, you will have to change the drive gear, and the driven gear within the transmission.
When you take out the diff, you will have to remove the C driveline support, and then the sensor, and the housing that the sensor is mounted in.
You will have to go to your local dealership, and purchase the correct gears for the speed sensor, and the transmission tail shaft.
As for the intake air temp sensor, you will see a 5 volt reference to the tan wire, however, personally, I would just purchase the connecter, and install.
I hope this helps, c4c5:Hb

Can I just use the drive gear & the driven gear that was in the transmission of the car that the rear end came out of? also, why do I have to change the tail shaft? is the '86 vette transmission different then the one thats in my '91? Mahalo again.

HI there,
Yes, you can use the gears out of the other car.
Justremember, that the tailshaft housing has to be removed to access the drive gear, and slide it off the end of the output shaft.
Allthebest, c4c5:hb
