There isnt a real good spot to put it. I mounted mine under the dash on the passenger side.

Here is thread where some of us discussed several aspects of installing the MSD box...http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44387

In this thread I included a bracket drawing that is to be mounted above the water pump and in front of a conventional air cleaner and drop base. I don't have to use a smog pump, so this bracket also takes advantage of the space available when the smog pump is not being used.

Thanks Gerry
I am thinking about trying to put it in one of the storage compartments right by the battery and connecting it directly to the battery. Is there any reason why I should not do it this way?

The MSD box should not be installed in an enclosed area such a glove box (page 4 of installation manual). I understand by this that it should get ventilation and/or cooling air.

Also, it should not be installed upside-down, for this will cause it to accumulate moisture.

True, but the glove box will probably be cooler than my engine compartment

I mounted the MSD 6AL right next to the battery on my 64 just as you said you were considering. I have had it for just over a year with no problems. I couldn't find anywhere else to put it and yes you want to mount it where it can 'breathe' and stay cool.
