I'm thinking about installing the LT1 style muffler eliminators
from Corvette Central. Has anyone had experience with these,
or ANY eliminators? I'd like a little more noise at idle and cruising, and a lot more at full throttle.

I got them and I love the way they sound. When you hit WOT throttle you can hear it. I usually drive around town with the windows down and the radio off just to hear the engine.

UB2 SLOW, how is the resonance with the eliminators? Do you still run the stock resonator? I have Borla mufflers on the stock exhaust, they sound great, but have a lot of resonance and are not quite load enough for me. The muffler eliminators may be what I am looking for.

Thanks for the response. Did you use the pipes from Corvette Central or from someone else? Do you have a vanity plate on the back of your car saying UB2SLOW?

I sitll have stock resonator. There is some resonance around 2000-24000 rpms, but not too bad. I think its a fair trade for the over all sound of the car now.

Aeroman, I got mine from Ecklers, but you could probably get them cheaper from Corvette Central or MidAmerica. Yes, my plates do say UB2SlOW. I love letting cars see them as I go by.

Eckler's has them for $189.99 with the rectangle tips. That is the chearest I found.
part# 36993.

I believe Corvette Central has them for 145.00 also check E-bay there is someone there under the name of ladyvetter that sells them in the 130-140 range

Corvette Central has them for $145.00 with the original LT-1 tips. I think that's the ones I'll get. The ones I saw at Mid-America or Ecklers looked like thin stainless shells tacked to round tips.
UB2SLOW, I thought you would have a plate like that..... I got
one on the back of mine that says BSEENU. :w
Thanks for all the feedback guys. :beer

I never had a problem with Ecklers, if you are not happy send them back.
I don't care about cost, all I want is Quality.

I did them on my 'vette too... (also had them on my '93)

It is far cheaper to just have a local shop put them on. A good muffler shop can bend pipe up for far less $$$ than those eliminators are, and you can have them mount them however you like them (as far as how the line up with the car/bumper, etc.)

With a 6-speed, I think resonance is only bad a low RPM's... like when running in the wrong gear for the speed. (say, 6th gear, 45 MPH while trying to accelerate).

Take note before hand that the exhaust tips matter... round tips will produce better sound, the rectangle tips tend to choke the sound down some...

The pipe size also matters. If you put a larger pipe on, you will more sound, smaller pipe, less sound. For maximum sound, you would go from smaller to biggest pipe (think megaphone). it will also make the sound 'smoother'.
I think the last time I did mine, it was $120 out the door, using the factory tips off the car. my '93 cost roughly the same, including new tips (chrome slash cut duals on each side)

I read a post here at CAC where he / she said straight through pipes were installed in place of the mufflers for less than US$50... And results were pretty good with the exception of some resonance inside the car at mid rpm range.

Thats a pretty good plate. I saw one from VA a few years ago that said "B C N U"

I can attest to that, as my Vette has some "eliminators" on it, or rather did (taking a break before building my new system in a few minutes). All they are are a pair of resonated tips with 90 degree bends welded onto the stock pipes. Actually they sounded pretty good, but I'm building a true dual system for my '87, and they're not part of the plan. you can probably get a set of "muffler eliminators" built for you for less than $100, but it depends on the shop.
