So, I'm at the Goodguys car show on Sat. wandering around and checking out all the rods and muscle cars made prior to 73. Or at least considered older than. Some of these works of art sport huge superchargers, dual quads, velocity stacks, original 427 Fords and Chevys, hemi's and other large displacement engines from yesteryear etc. And most when fired up, obviously using racing fuel just to keep them running sharp.
Which brought me to this, as I was walking past my 92 sitting in the garage this morning, I just thought to myself what a great car it really is. Im avg 24 mpg on my daily commutes, handles like a go cart, looks slick as a jet fighter, will dust most late model stocker wannabe's with mid 13 sec et's and runs on pump gas. Oh it may not be considered a classic muscle car, but is'nt it?

Back in the "era" (mid 60s to early 70s) the Corvette, as a sports car, was never really considered a muscle car in the original sense of the term (large displacement engine in a small to mid sized car), although not many engines were larger than the 427/454 BBCs and the only other small car (2 seater) was the AMX.

But I agree that it is a great car regardless what it's called.

I'll be mailing out your speeding ticket today. 80 in a 55 .....
I run 79 in a 70 in 6th gear,and I wasn't in KY at the time!!;LOLI was on I-40 in another state.I'm not saying which one!!:boogie:boogie:boogie:upthumbs

The Corvette is not a muscle car.
The Corvette is a sports car.

What's the difference? Try driving a 4,000+ pound car through a slolam.

Muscle cars were built to travel in a straight line. Turning was an afterthought.

So was braking. When I think back to the 6.75 x 15 bias ply and drum brakes we ran on those things it's a wonder anyone from that era is still alive.

I see more Corvettes on the road than old muscle cars any way my Corvette is more fun to drive than my old muscle car (1968GTO) but I still love the old muscle cars.

You don't want to be charged with resisting;LOL

According to Hagerty Insurance, "...Muscle cars are typically 1960s and early 1970s two-door vehicles powered by large V-8 engines and built with special emphasis on performance. These vehicles are generally factory built by U.S. manufacturers..."

I consider mine as muscle cars.
