HI all:
Just ordered a Magnetic Red coupe for museum delivery :D . Anybody taken the museum option? What did you think? How long did they take after your order? Did the dealer waive teir delivery charges (in place of the Museum ones)?

TIA
RickM

NO you pay the $800 + the NCM charge BUT it is worth it for the treatment you will get at the NCM. while you are there make sure you join the NCM

See above - it's worth it.
Did NCM delivery on our 03 AE vert a couple of years ago and it was worth every penny.

Thanks for the info guys. I have to ask, how can the dealer justify charging for delivery (which includes $150-$200 for detailing) when they don't even SEE the car?

GM pays them for getting the car ready for delivery and the dealer are trying to make a extra buck on the sale by charging you for this service. i would go to a different dealer if they try to do this on a NCM delivery. my wife worked at a a chevy dealer for 15 years so i know the details

Thanks motorman, that makes a LOT more sense. But I'm confused :confused ...you are the one that told me I would end up paying them both :)

you still pay the GM shipping cost of $800,which all corvette buyers pay plus what ever the NCM charges for it delivery services which is a fund raiser for the NCN

OK, now I understand. :L I'll just make sure the dealer doesn't "forget" to take their delivery charge off. Thanks again.

Clarification

The $800.00 thing is the same for everyone. You can blame the Teamsters lobby. Basicly, they complained that long distance haulers got paid a lot more than short distance haulers (delivering cars to LA versus across town in BG), so a federal law was passed that every new vehicle sold in the USA would have an $800.00 delivery charge tacked on, regardless of shipping destination.... Sucks for us, but I guess the haulers love it!

NCM delivery, if I recall correctly is $495.00, and it is definitely worth the money. NCM delivery is an outstanding experience. You will get the royal treatment. We will definitely do it again when we buy our next vette.
:D

Someone, not too long ago, maybe in the past week or two, posted their experience with the Museum Delivery. They could'nt rave enough about it. In fact, if I ever order a new 'vette, I'm going to get the museum delivery just because of that post!!!

FYI, All museum deliveries recieve a 1 yr NCM membership. Check out the Museum web site, then click on "Museum Deliveries" you'll find the basic proceedure and info.
Also the thread about the delivey is great testamonial....
