Hello Everybody,
I think at this time every Callawayfan and owner inside the US are @ Carlisle enjoying the show. I have a little "story" i want to share with you.
About one year ago i broke my TH350 from my 81 Corvette. Well this happens so what are the options, after some thought i was going to get myself a used 700R4 from the States. I found a nice one on ebay. The only problem was how to trust the company, when the transmission is shipped to Holland the value will be up around 600 dollars.. :crazy
So lets hope they don't send my a couple of bricks. The other problem was the transmission was shipped on a pallet and not a box.
The answer was sending it to a friend inside the us and check if it's the same transmission and box the thing. Well.. i don't know that many (lets say about zero) friends inside the US, so what to do?..
I'm a member of this forum for about a year and read it since the beginning. So i knew a few people from posting and how the take care of there Callaway and other corvette's. So i took the change and wrote Josh an email to ask him if he could help me. To my astonishment Josh reaction was it wasn't a problem. Ooeff that was very easy and great of him to help me without knowing me in person. I found a shippingcompany to send it to Holland.
That company could also pickup the transmission and check the code’s and if it was necessary box the transmission. So at the end I didn’t need Josh’s help. But I find it very cool he wanted to help my and put time in my stuff.
Second problem, the 700R4 is longer then a 350. So to make the transmission bolt onto the chassis and engine, I needed another tailshaft (82 piece) and also an 82 crossmember to support the transmission. Of course this stuff isn’t to be found in Holland or cornering country’s so I begun my search in the States again. After a while I found an almost brand new crossmember on ebay and the tailshaft at a shop.
Around this time I was mailing with Luigi getting his previous Carlisle pictures and sending some meeting video stuff from Holland. So why not, I asked Luigi if he could collect my stuff and send it though with USPS. After some delay from the Corvette shop he got al the part’s and mailed me some picture’s if it was the correct stuff. 5 day’s after Luigi posted the package’s I got them at home. Perfectly packet and I no tax or something due to the unexplainable low values on the package list
Through this way a wanted to thank Josh and especially Luigi for there devotion to help me and putting that much time into my parts!! (is more then you would think).
So I can say as a member of this forum even without owning a Callaway, this is more than just a bord for topics and replies, the Callaway community! Maybe I have more friends in the States then I think

Here some pictures of the crossmember and 700R4 (with 82 tailshaft) on my 81 chassis and engine.
