As luck would have it I finally got my lil beasty running properly and the antenna gears munched. Any recommendations on where to get a replacement? Anyone have any experience with one from Corvette Central?

Corvette Central, Ecklers or Mid America Design are all Great! :upthumbs

Chances are that the ribbon is at fault. it is a typical repair necessary for the antenna. Mid America and or Ecklers has a replacement that is not that pricey considering...

It's probably a ribbon; not too big of a job. I've done it twice. You'll need bolts to replace the rivets what get drilled out, to open the case, which are not included in the kit.

I try to keep my antenna clean and lightly lubed to keep the dirt out and the strain off of the mechanism.

:w

Yep. It looked simple enough. Should I use screws or rivets? I can do either but if this is going to be a constant irritation I guess screws would be easier. What type of lubricant should be used? I have Super Lub Dri-Film that I have used on other metal to metal parts around the house. Once it dries the metal to metal contact is real slippery and it lasts a while.

Thanks.

If you have the pop rivet tool and the rivets might as well use what you have. No need for getting bolts and nuts.:duh

antenna

I replaced the whole antenna, bought a new one at the local Chevy dealership for $98.00. Put it on in about 45 min. to an hour.

I ordered the Antenna Repair kit from Ecklers. Should be here later in the week.

What about the removal of the antenna? How big of a job is this
