Thought I'd share my excitement with everyone. Got a call from my dealer this morning. My Vert w/ power top is on its way. :D Said I should get it by the end of the week. More good news. He said if I brought in proof of ownership of another GM vehicle, I would receive an additional $1500 off. :Twist

We are all excited for you Billybeau, don't forget to take pictures of it when it comes in. And saving $1500 is great, finally GM is sorta taking care of its own. It may not seem like a huge amount, but it could come in handy somewhere else I'm sure.

Thanks guys. Its Machine Silver Metallic w/ Red Highwear Nuance Leather interior w/ black top.

Congratulations! What are you going to do with the Shark?

I will KEEP the shark !!!!! Thats my baby......... She'll look real nice next to the new one.

I'm with you! My car (sounds identical to yours except for power top) is supposed to come in tomorrow (2/1). I hope the past weekend's ice didn't slow the truck driver down. Besides, Bowling Green is only 480 miles from Charlotte!

Happy to hear about your good fortune.
My dealer called yesterday on my vert order. He said there are "constraints" on Z51,due to CAFE? standards, and Nav. options. That is the bad news. The good news is present production is at 50% and will increase to full capacity by mid March.

The GM probably took it home to "test drive." The car dealerships around here have a habit of doing that, taking the nice cars home to drive the crap out of them then selling them.

Nothing Like a Silver Vert

Bill,

Congradulations on your new ride - I know you're going to love it.

How long did you wait?

I ordered my C6, Millenium Yellow, 6 speed , Z51, Power top etc. How long did you wait for yours? Did I read that they won't be building more ragtops till 21 March?! So should I expect mine to come in just prior to the new '06 model? Waiting 8-10 weeks for a build is one thing, but we are talking months! The last time I ordered a Vette was in Nov 1988. I ordered the "new" 6 speed and Z51 Package. I was told that Chev was holding the 6 speeds for the ZR-1 and mine would be delayed and it was. Took delivery on April 1. Yup, April fools day! Here I go again. Got the urge to get another Vette with all the good words spread over the tabloids/magazines. The only differences are that this Vette is almost twice as expensive and I am older and far less patient. Anyone out there who can give me some "calming rhetoric?"
Thanks guys. Mike

Mike, I ordered mine in October and got it in January. My dealer had his finger on the pulse the whole time and always was able to get me updates. I would lean on him a little. At least for an update. And be patient, this car IS worth the wait, trust me.

Mike, Convertible production is ramping up rapidly so be calm my brother! My convertible took 5.5 months (ordered 9/18/04, delivered 2/3/05) but that's a little misleading since convertible production did not begin until November (which I knew when I ordered). I have read that by late March fully one half of corvette production will be convertibles, so your car should happen pretty fast. You will not be disappointed!

Don't know who told you they weren't ragtop untill March 21 but it's simply not true. Right now over a third of the daily production are ragtop. It's soon to be over half. Now the Z51 might be a bigger hold up than the the power top ragtop. The constraint on the Z51 is because they have to meet CAFE regulations (they built to many Z51's the first of the yea rnow they need to make up for it). It has noting to do with the Z06. I think you meant Z06 not ZR-1.

I appreciate your positive advice and reassurances. I'll keep you posted.
Mike

I ordered my C6 vert on 9/14/04 and the last build date is the July - Aug 05 time frame. The order has gone from one constraint to another. The last is problems with the Beige top. Calming rhetoric, think not, from this old guy.
