My first mod, a foil for the throttle body.

Received and installed my first mod to my baby today. I purchased the foil off ebay from an outfit called crtperformance. I immediately noticed a huge difference in the sound from under the hood but noticed the hp gain as well. I guess it's easier to notice 12 hp on an L98. Great investment for $35.00. Only 5 minutes to install.

Are you sure you gained anything? I haven't heard anything positive about an air foil, that is why I haven't got one yet. Does anybody have any dyno results showing a gain with an airfoil?

Unfortunately, those simple mods that advertise large gains in HP are basically snake oil. Save your money for mod that will generate serious HP.

SOTP dyno testing is sometimes augmented by the advertising claims on the box the mod came in.

If you want some real neck-snapping increase in performance, change the differential gears to something like 3.73's. It won't hurt gas mileage too much and will be very noticable off the line.

Thats next on my list!!

BTW - I got the Air foil, K&N filter, 160 therm and TB bypass. Went from a 13.60 to a 13.39. (The Corsa exhaust did nothing!)

The air foil should help with a stock throttle body. If you look at a stock TB there is a lot of turbulance created because of the design. There are a lot of nook and crannies that will get the air moving every different direction. Check your stock TB out, poor design, which is something that was improved in the aftermarket TB's.

I did the same mod as you...

on my 95 LT-1 auto and definitely felt and heard an improvement.

Subsequent mods I did: SLP 3-K&N Claw; a Granatelli MAF sensor tuned for cold air; and a pair of Magnaflow muffs. This is as far as I'm goin for now. Am really happy with both the sound and the performance.

I also did the same mod i felt a little difference but not the 12 hp like the claim said. All in all it wasnt bad for 35 dollars i don't think.

Who is going to be able to tell a 12 hp change. The biggest change i felt was just knowing it was there and i dont care what you all say. For 35 dollars why not, it wasn't hard to install and i had fun doing it. I realize that the claim might not be accurate, but i love my corvette, and anything i do to her makes me feel better.

I agree, I put an airfoil in.
With the combination of an K&N air filter, open air lid & air foil, I'm sure it added up to some gains.
