Hi guys...Yes we put the ground strap which is under the coil.
I'll have him re-check to see if the distributor is in time.

I'll re-check for code 12 to flash 4 times in a row or more...I think it did for 4 times but is an easy re-check now with your help

I Don't know what kind of plugs were put in? I'll check

Plug gap another good thing to check.
Pulling some or all the plugs is next...I'll keep you all informed.

Thanks again

Byron

If you have aluminun heads make sure your engine is cold before removing the spark plugs. Hot heads could strip the plug holes out ..... Hope you find the problem.....Bob Yates

Fixed at last, Fixed at last, Thank God almighty its fixed at last...The computer was bad...less then $200.00 and it runs fine even after it warms up...Thanks to all for the help.

It was great to read the back & forth!! Nice to see so many people concerned enough to try & help.:beer

Glad you finally got the problem solved.

Your soooo right.

This is the best fourm I've ever seen.

Olny thing now is I do seem to have a bad Proforince chip...when I put it back in the car runs like crap when at idle.

Jeff said He'd burn me another so that'll be the next step.

Thanks again to ALL.

If the dist is off a tooth, it's still possible to get the car running, and it would appear as though the timing is set properly. I think there are 24 teeth on the dist, so 1 tooth is about 15 degrees (don't quote me on that). So instead of 6 degree before TDC, it could be 9 deg after TDC.

I would also check for proper plug wire order among the other recommendations here.

Do you have a tool to put the computer in diagnostic mode?

So how did you figure out that it was the computer?

My shop did...I guess they figured that since it did'nt give any codes to there computer that there must be a problem with the computer and as it turned out they were right.

How much vacuum at idle?
