My weird antenna?!?

I am a new owner of an '85 with only 41K on her. I don't play the radio much, but I have I noticed that the antenna dosen't always retract right away, after shutting off the radio. It seems as though it takes a while for it to go back to where ever it sleeps. I have had situations where I've shut the radio off, walked out of the car, then watched my antenna retract, or come back the next day and it's retracted. Is this normal?? I thought that power antenna's usually 'close up' right away :confused I'm not complaining but do any of yours do that?

When it does this can you hear the motor running but it not moving? If so it is probably the mast going bad in the antenna. Mine went bad and the motor would run and run and run, but I just unclipped the power wire to the motor, so it just stays up all the time now.
