My Wife Repaired My Corvette

Hey Folks, I have not posted for awhile but I've visited several times. I suffered a heart attack in late September and another one last week and have been a little under the weather. Today I have to share this story. My lovely wife and I went for a short drive in the corvette yesterday. If you remember from early posts she is not a great fan of the Corvette... yet. As we were sitting at a stop light I mentioned to her that somthing was gonna break down soon because I have been noticing a whirring sound form time to time like an alternator or power steering pump going bad. I reved up the motor a little so she could hear it. She listened for a few seconds and then reached up and turned the radio off. The whirring stopped!!!!
We laughed together and I told here she was now part of the brotherhood of Corvette because she had fixed one. The rest of the drive was less stressful knowing that I did not have to worry about trying to fix this car before I got better.

Better Days Coming

Sounds like you have had a though year with your health. I have a few words of wisdom. Follow the Doctors orders as if they were a religion. I speak from experience as I have had my third and forth open heart surgery a month apart this year. My first surgery was 25 years ago then again 10 years after that. During those years I have enjoyed motorcycle riding (I still ride) and now the Corvette. Repairing the vette is a way of rassuring myself that I am still useful. Therefore when I am under the dash fixing the high beam switch or putting on new brakes etc. I call it therapy. As added therapy I have broken away a few times this year to just go out and drive 500 miles for the day and return home. Oh I also enjoy parking in the handicap spots because there is more room around the car. (fewer door bangs) Remember the rocking chair is waiting if you give up:ugh

Dave & John, I see you both live in Indiana. I grew up in Terre Haute, moved to the Fort Wayne area in the early 70’s and then moved to TX about ten years ago. One of my favorite drives is from Terre Haute to Nashville, IN with the top off, or down. Beautiful country! I fully understand the 500 mile drive idea. Not much to look at in West TX, unless you like cotton. Best of luck to both of you!

Driving

Yes I usually end up in Evansville and then work my way back home on the back roads you remember 135, 44, up through Nashville etc. Some that read this may not believe it but Indiana has some of the most fun roads for motorcycling or spirted corvette driving.

Thank you all for the encouraging words they have truly lifted my heart. (no pun intended) The driving in Indiana is wonderful, lots of curving roads through some of the best looking countryside I've ever seen. I have driven the roads some of you spoke of. My wife seems to have taken a new interest in the Corvette since she repaired it. She has always been the smart one of the family.
I have a long way to go to recover from the past 8 weeks but, I will recover and I will continue to drive my Corvette. I think driving the Vette on curving country roads is actually good for my heart. The more I can raise my heartrate the faster I'll build up what is left. Thanks again for your kind words.
