My '82 has a very high idle. I have replaced the intake gaskets, thermostat, IACs, and replaced a few vaccume lines along the way. I still think I have a vac leak. Well, last night I looked at the switch under the steering wheel for the headlights to try and see if the vac lines to it were crossed.{lights won't go up when you hit the switch, but instead go down after manually raising them.} If you pull the switch when they are down you can't raise them at all,but there is definately vaccume! Anyway, when I pulled the lines from the switch I noticed a third vac hose that seems to go nowhere! It comes from the area right behind the fuel pedal. Any idea where it's supposed to end up at? Thanks.

I'm not sure where the vaccum lines are routed through but aside from the switch you mention, two lines are suppose to go to the headlight switch way up on the left.

Get a visual of the switch you are talking about. Are all the connections there?

did the one you find have vacuum?

Hey Jaingtao,

I have check my assembly manual (thought for an 81) so I hope it's close.
(a) 2No hoses to the actual light switch, top one white marking, bottom one light blue marking.
(b) Light blue marked hose goes to ASM Valve. White Marked hose goes through bulkhead gromet to front of car.
(c) Note: Third black only hose from ASM Valve through bulkhead gromet to front of car. The white and black hoses should be through same gromet. From diagram ASM Valve should be under the speedo area.

Hope this makes sense.

Well, I think I have figured it out. I played with the hoses for a while and the idle finally went down! It was about 1500 at idle!! It was so high that after you let off the brake from stop it would shift into 2nd without mashing the gas pedal!! I hope I have cured the problem. Hell, I was looking for a code for demonic posession! Thanks.
