NASCAR, not Johnson, driving fans away

... waiting for Danica to what?

If we have to tell you what, then we can't help you!;LOL

I was thinking more-along the lines of 'waiting for her to smile'... 'waiting for her to win a race were her opponents don't run out of fuel'... 'waiting for her to grow beasticles'... 'waiting for her to not-blame others when she is involved in a crash'...

I think NASCAR needs a little competition. Thinking maybe along the lines of old school, a NEW league of stock car racing!!! Like Mike G., Tuna, and Vette boy touched on. See how fast NASCAR pays attention then. Ticket sales are way down, and merchandise is too!! It seemed to me that in the 90s there was a 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 16, 20,21, ect..... on every car !!! not anymore!!! Greed got the best of a good thing. And if you can name the drivers with above numbers in under 4 seconds, you know what I'm saying. Salute :beer

Nascar

I do not like the Chase thing at all.Jimmy seams to barely get in every year, then in the chase he kicks ass for the remaining races.Either Chad has got a secret(cheating, oops walking grey line)or everyone else has to bow down to him because of team leader.Jeff can't even challeng Jimmy and they are on same team.Anyhow i am going back to Dirt Tracks.I was a faithful watcher till last year and it was just boring. You sit around and say to yourself"When is Jimmy gonna take over the lead? You know its gonna happen";shrug

When my wife and I moved in together, she had to deal with my NASCAR fixation. That was back in 1998. That was the year the Dale Sr. finally won the Daytona 500. Being a Dale Sr. fan, I was glued to the TV and jumping for joy. My wife got used to being on her own on NASCAR Cup days because I was glued to the TV.

Over the years since then, NASCAR has gone the wrong direction as far as I'm concerned. Now 12 years later, I still watch the Cup races but usually via my DVR and only if the race sounded interested on media reports. Of course you can skip through all the boring stuff with the DVR and just catch the important stuff - assuming that something important actually happens in the race. This year, I'm taking the wife on a Valentine weekend getaway without any TV in sight. Oh, I'll DVR the Daytona 500 just in case.

For me, the first real auto race of the season will be the 12 Hours of Sebring. Go Corvette Racing!

I've been to Sebring and I love the atmosphere .If Sebring had a working airport I'd own a place there.

I want to remind everyone that the Bud Shootout is 13 days away ,8pm on fox .A few friends are coming over to boycott with me.My prediction is that all the drivers will allow JR.to win.;)

Then the car companies would build race cars. Back in the old days the big 3 would have to build at least 500 of the models ( or a darn good facsimile) and put them on the show room floors before NASCAR would let them race that model. I know that some of the times there were ways to get around it, but dammit, the spirit was there! Where do you think the saying " Drive on sunday, buy on monday" came from? I know in reality it will never be that way again, but blackvette is right. Make the cars distinguishable (sic) from each other. No more of this crap that they all have to be the same weight, height, exact spoilers, blah, blah, blah.......In other words, NO MORE RULES! Plus make every driver smoke a cigarette on their last lap while having a bare arm rest on the windowsill. The drivers have to get in by opening a door. No more wearing helmets and firesuits by the pit crew. Only matching t shirts, jeans, and ballcaps with a Scoal or John Deer logo. Make the flaggers stand on the inside of the track when doing their thing. While I'm at it.................................
