The C6 Nav isn't even close to the best on the market....much like the Bose stereo. That's OK because it's the best sports car for the money in the world. My question is....if you don't have a predetemined need....and didn't have to take it with the car out of inventory....would you have ordered it. Is it just a toy for the first month.....or would you wait, and if you really found a need, wait 2-3 years and gut the whole thing and put a state of the art system in for the same price?

Looking for honest opinion not rationalizaton. Thanks in advance.

PS No flames please....don't mean any offense.

IMHO...It's a nice toy and for resale it couldn't hurt. If you're buying the best sports car in the world for the money, belly up and buy as many gee-whiz thingamabobbies as you possibly can.

I didn't like the NAV on my 2005 coupe. It's NOT the best.

On my new 2005 'vert, I went with the regular radio that includes MP3. NAV does NOT support this. (why?-because this must be a 2001 NAV--very strange, haha!)

If I could do it again, I'd skip the factory NAV. It's by far the most difficult and least intuitive system I've ever used and the map DVD seems to be a good 5 years behind.

You are right about the Bose stereo. I was pretty disgusted with that too. The first thing I did was add tweeters, amp, and subs but left all of the Bose speakers in. It sounds much better but still not perfect. I should have went aftermarket on everything where nav/stereo is concerned. I also would have went with Sirius instead of XM.

I have my complaints, but I still love my C6!

Hi there,
Personally, I think the most difficult thing to learn about on the c6 is the Nav system.
It will take me 2 hours, just to orientate the customers with the feature and how to effectively use this.
Once you get the hang of it, it is better and not so obtrusive to use.
I prefer it because I do alot of traveling.
C6 system is better to use, IMO, than some of the other like Tahoe, Suburban, because the system is slightly different.
However, I do agree that the DVD needs to be updated a little, because there have been times that the system isnt that accurate here in the NE back roads.
Allthebest, c4c5

I agree the Bose system could have been better, however I love my Nav system. Extremely accurate. The DVD is a few years outdated though. Does anyone know when an updated DVD will be available?

Can Nav be added later?

I’m surprised that so many are negative about the Nav. (True, I had read a report that it was hard to learn and confusing.)

I was really looking forward to it. But, now I’m doubting ordering it. I certainly don’t want to buy 5 year old technology. I want the VERY latest!

Some say there are better aftermarket units. But, can they be fitted into a C6 that was ordered without it .. and look good?

Jim, to put it rather bluntly, we are screwed! Why Chevy(GM) has yet to update the nav DVD is beyond me. I have, as well, a new Audi A8L and Im part of that forum too. Some of the DVDs were 6 months out-of-date and the guys on the forum screamed bloody murder. Audi came out with an update!!! Should we scream? Would it do any good? With GM billions of $$ in the hole, I doubt it! Aftermarket units?? Corvette has NEVER been known for its ability to make it easy to retro a stereo system and this would be no different. For us audiophiles, the system has always been a letdown. The OEM units stink and without completely dismantling the system and then trying to find a unit that fits, it cant be done RIGHT! I had planned on ordering a navi on the 06 C6 in hopes of a cleaner system but not now.

GM and Corvette has really lost what it was/has been meant to be - AMERICA's SPORTSCAR - nothing fancy added to it. Now, I am not advocating going back to how my 1963 Z06 is equipped - basically, a steering wheel in the interior!

But, Corvette has really lost it's heritage and identity! And with the world market as it is today, I understand why we CANNOT say it is truly ALL AMERICAN anymore. But, let's try and keep it a TRUE SPORTSCAR and get rid of all of this namby-bamby BEEMER/CADILLAC/what have you add ons. My $.02 centavos.
