Hello,.. just checking to see if there is a way to remove the guage cluster without ripping the steering console out!?,..I tried to take it out and cracked the center of the hump,..let me know if there is "easier way" to get it out...thanks...
 
I think at the very least you have to loosen the steering column to allow to it to drop some and give that extra bit of clearance. I'm not sure how much though. I had the some problem on a 90, though I never found out about dropping the column til later so I haven't done it myself.
