Need Expert Help With Unusual C5 Oil Issues

I have used Mobil 1 and gm blue filters on my 02 for most of its life so far.Once I used mobil 1 filters and K-N filters never any issues. One time I tryed Royal Purple oil. I saw in a corvette magazine one time a test of oils.Mobil 1 vs Royal Purple. They Dyno'd both before and after.Royal won. They showed a graph where Royal gained 5 more horsepower! If the horsepower isn't there how does oil create it?Just :ughasking

Well, I would surmise, if that's an accurate finding (5 Hp gain using Royal Purple vs. Mobil 1), that the engine is producing less friction as a result of better lubrication, which translates into less loss (in the form of heat) and more horsepower.

Some good info on viscosity vs. oil temps,

Please disregard this post if your mind is already made up regarding your oil choice.

If your car is only street driven, or does occasional parade laps, don't worry about your oil.

Anyone else, learn.
