I recently purchased a project car 1970 CORVETTE with a 69 frame It does not have the orig engine, I was told it now has a 396. The numbers on the block in front of the head are:
TI2056LX OR TI2056TX & 101526712

Re-check the characters after T1205 - I don't show any suffixes that start with a "6". What's the block casting number (driver's side rear flange, behind the cylinder head)?

As posted on the CF, you've misread the stamp pad.

There cannot be more than 4 digits between the single character for the engine plant- 'T' in your case, and the two or three characters at the end for the engine machine code.

The machine code might be CLX or CTX

...TI2056LX OR TI2056TX & 101526712...

T Tonawanda New York engine assembly plant.
I205 December 5th date engine was assembled at Tonawanda

See previous posts for the engine identification suffix. First character is probably not a "6".

1 Chevrolet
O Plant code for Oakland, California
1 probably 1971; could be 1981
526712 consecutive unit number of the vehicle the engine was originally installed in. I'm not familiar with the car line series code "5", but I'm guessing Camaro; the 26712th one assembled at Oakland.

:)

The VIN derivative (101526712) says that engine was originally installed in a 1970 or 1980 Chevrolet product built at the Oshawa, Ontario assembly plant; the correctly-read suffix after the T1205 will tell exactly which product.

1 = Chevrolet
0 = 1970 or 1980
1 = Oshawa assembly plant
526712 = sequential number
