I just found out my father-in-law, Luis, bought some spare "parts" off a guy who was building a street rod and was wanting to use a corvette suspension. This guy got frustrated and offered my father in law the "parts" for a set of rims and 50 bucks.

I made a trip out there yesterday and it turns out the parts are the entire front and rear suspension of a 74-79?? corvette with wheels. All that is missing is the center section of the frame. I still can't believe it!!!! A set of old American Racing (common joe shmoe) rims and 50 bucks!!!!!!

The rear end came with 78-79 wheels but I need help in ID'ing the differential and the front clip. Where can i start to look for part numbers, id numbers etc.

father in Law has a 76 and I have a 79 and the clips are from a shark, but would like to pinpoint which ones, i do not want to assume that because the rear suspension came with 78 wheels its a 78 or 79.

Thanks

If part of the rear frame section is still there, the VIN stamp will be on top of the left rear frame rail just above the shock upper bracket. There will also be a build date/ratio code stamp on the bottom machined surface of the diff just forward of the spring mounting plate, and the casting number and date for the diff is on the driver's side near the bottom just behind the camber strut rod bracket.
