I need to know if I can put 1989 17X9.5 Corvette wheels on a 1984 Corvette? I think 16x9.5 was available in 1984 as an RPO special order which leads me to believe that the width is not a problem. The height is usually not as important as the width but I just need to be sure!

Wish I could help...but I'm sure someone will jump in soon with an answer! Welcome to the Corvette Action Center, by the way!

If memory serves:

The offset is different and the late wheels will sit inside too much. You'll need a spacer to set the wheels out and probably longer lug studs.

Check with MidAmerica, Ecklers and/or Vette Brakes for the adaptors and longers studs.

That is correct...later offset is about 58mm and earlier offset is either 36 or 38mm depending on the rim.

When I switched to 17in. wheels on my '85 I used .5in spacers and the rims sat in there perfect.

most repo folks offer the rims with the correct offset so you do not need the spacers....
