Need help replacing seat cushions!!

Can anyone tell me how to replace the seat cushins on a 79 vette. I have ordered covered cushins that apparently just bolt/snap right in from the manufacturer. As I have never tried this before - I thought I might get some help before I wreck the seat frames or new cushins. I do not see how the old seats cushions are attached. I have removed the seats from the car already. Any help would be appreciated.

I think your 79 is the same as my 81

The bottom cushin has two "V" shaped wire type extentions that go into a slot on the bottom of the seat bucket frame, the top portion of the bottom seat has a wire through the entire back side of the bottom of the seat that snaps down into a clip on the back of the bottom of the seat frame.

The top portion of the seat has two clips on each side of the framework, in back of the seat cushin. They open toward the middle of the seat, I used an the same screw driver with a bend it in that I used to change the "S" spring in the door to get in back of the cushin to release the wire from the snaps.

I'll make a copy of the page from my assembly manual and post it

The instructions on the web site are for earlier C3's. Your seats are different. Go by Rare81's sketch.

Jim.... you may have to trim off some of the excess foam around the wires that fit in the pan clips. The seat bottom is very easy to replace. The tops will take some patience. Take the seat pans apart, I found it much easier. Also a couple long and strong flathead screw drivers will be needed as guides. The first seat took me about an hour and a few new expletives, the second seat took about 15 minutes. Once you learn the trick the second one is a breeze. Did you get the 2" or 4" bolster seats?

This sounds A LOT like my experience. Except the first one took me about 3 or 4 hours because I didn't think about trimming some of the foam off first. Trying to squish the foam, and line up the clips at the same time is really difficult. The tips offered above should be very helpful. I think one of my seat backs isn't clipped into all 4... I think I could get 1 of them and just gave up since the cushion was staying put.
