I'm trying to figure out all the correct hose routing on a '71 (base SB MT no special equip but orig CEC solenoid) and haven't found any complete diagrams.

I've looked in the AIM, the FSM as well as the Dobbins picture book w/ photos. Between the AIM and the Doc Rebuild catalog that clears up 'most' of the mystery but I still have a few ?s...

WARNING: I don't have a picture to post so please be patient w/ a longish description.

-----------

Here's what I have so far:

1) I have 1 hose going from the distributor advance to the CEC solenoid (lower connector).

2) I have 1 hose going from the upper/outer CEC solenoid to the port on the main body just above the fuel inlet.

3) I have one short stubby hose going from the choke diaphragm to the angled port immediately behind the fuel filter/inlet

4) I have the larger diamter PCV hose going from the large port @ the bottom front (throttle plate) over to the PCV T connector and beyond...

Now those I'm pretty sure of (above) they are corroborated in the AIM and the Doc Rebuild catalog.

Now here's where I'm confused:

There are two REMAINING vacuum ports on the carb main body. 1) One is on the right side of the carb and sticks out beyond the choke linkage pointing towards the fender. 2) The other remaining port is on the front left side of the carb main body just above the mixture screw pointing towards the radiator.

-----------

Questions:

1) I need to hook the smaller evap can vac hose to ONE of the two remaining ports above - which one? (I 'think' its' the one on the side but not sure)

2) I seem to have an 'extra' vacuum port but no idea what to connecto it to.

In the few pix of 71 base engines in the Dobbins book - the photos are small, sometimes blurry b&w, show inconsistent configs and 'by-passed' CECs, Evaps hooked to various ports etc... I searched thru the online 71 registry but no photos of carb configs. Anybody know the answers off hand that are familiar w/ original 71 configurations, have a '71 SB w/ original QJet config or have any web references w/ good photos/images etc to refer me to...?

3) How many vac ports should the '71 QJet have? (not including PCV) 3? 4?

thanks!

additional info:

It's possible this carb has 1 too many ports - I've seen info to suggest 71 QJets (base SB) have 3 ports or 4 ports so don't know for sure...?

I think all these ports pull vacuum directly from the manifold at the throttle plate area so this may be somewhat of an 'academic' question?

thanks,
