i'm looking at purchasing a 1968 corvette, but when i checked out the paint code it does not seem to exist.the code on the car is 985,the car has been repainted so i don't know what the original color is.i've since learned that in 1968 ten cars were painted with non-standard colors.could this be one of them.i've checked with a ppg and a dupont distributer but they were of no help.can anyone tell me what color this car is supposed to be.

Here are the paint codes for 1968 - - there's 974 and 976 but no 75.... perhaps some of the NCRS pro's can offer insight. Welcome to the Board, eh ?

"985" wasn't used as a paint code - take another look at the trim tag and see if it's really 983, 984, 986, or 988. If it was originally painted a non-Corvette color, the trim tag would show "Spec" for the paint code.

John,

How about for the interior? I've run into a similar problem with my 72. Interior paint code is 412. No manufacturer of reproduction paints offer it. They only offer "medium blue" 375 which is way off. The car is a base car so it seems strange that they would use a unique color. I have found the code listed in some corvette specs sites -but not the actual color on the after market.
