Need help with DTC codes.......

I just bought a 1997 with 19K miles. I am starting to receive U1016H and C2120HC codes. These codes seem to be generating both Check Engine and Check Gauges alarms. Part of this may be associated with a gas gauge failure (showing empty when the tank is full) that I intermittently receive. Looks like I may have to replace the gas tank sending units. I also don’t have tire pressure sensors installed (but plan to later), so I assume this may be part of the problem. Has anyone else experienced these codes? What was the issue? Any guidance will be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the CAC!!

The U1016 problem appears to be a loss of communications with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and is likely what is causing your Check Engine light.

the C2120 code is for TPM (Tire Pressure Monitoring) System malfunction and is what could be causing your check guages light. Once you get new pressure monitors installed and running 2120 should go away.

As for U1016, I have no idea how to trouble shoot or repair it.
