Need help

Right during one of the worst rainstorms in the Northeast, my driver side wiper decides to stop working. Too late for a parts or repair shop. Any suggestions as to what to look for or remedy? Have to take off again at 4am with my son and would really like to avoid cancelling trip.

Take off the plastic cover at the bottom of the wiper arm and make sure the nut is tight for the arm assembly.
