I'm getting ready to get a new air intake setup, and I was going w/ the Blackwing. What I want to know is does anyone run the whole kit, which I thought is the filter, a cover or shroud, and some sort of coupler. I think it sells for around $256 in Mid-Amer. Or should I go w/ just the filter, is that cheaper?
Let me know what you guys are using and how was install and performance feel.
I was able to download the instruction for the K&N cold air kit, but I saw that requires cutting the rad. cover. Any thought?

Thanks Anthony

If you don't want to cut much AND save money, you could always go the K&N filter + Z06 cover route. It allows much more air in and the cover is only about $50-60 bucks.

And of course, going with just the Blackwing and no shroud is cheaper. You might be able to find one used in the $125-150 range. The coupler is only needed with 2001 and newer vettes. The coupler that goes between the filter and the MAF, that is.

got my blackwing (no shroud) for $199. totally worth it, i love it.

The cover for the blackwing that some vendors sell has been known to cause surging. Exit28 motorsports in Dallas stopped selling the cover because of complaints about it. The filter by itself is great. I love mine.

Blackwing

You dont need the kit, just pick up the Blackwing and install it!

You may need an adaptor to connect up to the MAF depending on the year.

Price is all over the place, watch eBay for price I have seen them go under 199
