i have an 84 chevy silverado long bed pickup. im installing a
throttlebody fuel injected 454 v-8 from (1995 Gmc) with engine oil cooler. i want a new toy thats versatile on saturday nite with fairly good drivability for occassional daily use. i got my heart
set on this edelbrock(inline) dual quad intake which recommends the use of (2) 600 cfm Carter/edelbrock carbs. though im going to install (2) 500 cfm carbs using the progressive linkage kit. The
intake is dual plane and is designed on the performer rpm's design; the likage is get up so that the rear carb is the primary , and the front carb being the auxilary carb. the 1st 2barrels open
followed by the front 2barrels ot the aux carb equalling 500cfm, a bit more throttle and u've got 6bbls = 750cfm followed by (8bbls=1000 cfm). i figure im gonna need to change camshafts so
i thinking about comp cams 268 high energy or 270 magnum cam
accell hei super coil and 2.5 inch duals with no cats.700r4 trans
with 3.73 or 4.11gears and posi. or just installthe cam and leave it fuel injscted with the harness and throttle body/elec fuel pump/computer, not a problem. i think usingthe progressive linkage with the dual quads will be better on gas than a dual line holley 750cfm, because i can better control it engaging the carbs
as to how much carburation i need rather than just guzzling all the time. anyone with experience on the dual quad set up by edelbrock and the pros and cons or helpful advice . i understand
that this 454 from the factory has 255hp/405ftlbs torque.
wondering what could be the estimated numbers after im through with the mods that i mentioned
