Question: need scanner! best bang 4 low dollars

can you recommend good scanner for 92 corvette? what's the best bang for a buck? i'm a old shade tree mechanic, when an engine and tranny would come out by 6 bolts and a couple of wire connectors.

Is it just the ECM you want to scan? Or do you want to scan both the body and chassis computers, too?
