Hi fellas, i was hoping someone could recommend a company in the states that sells good weatherstripping for 89c4 ,I can buy it over here but it costs an arm and a leg, crazy prices:WMany thanks have a good one!:)

Not sure if pricing would be better but click on Mid America Motorworks on the left. A supporting vendor that should have what you need.

Howdy English Guy! I got a complete set of weatherstripping for my 1993 last August for $339 before taxes and shipping. Now since I live in Texas maybe that is why I had no shipping cost. In any case I am extremely happy with the customer service and, more importantly happy, with the quality of the product. I cannot reccomend them strongly enough. I had done some peicemeal installation of segments (like the back window for over $100) and the passenger door window seal (can't remember for sure how much but certainly near $100) and I do know just those two seals cost nearly as much as the complete set of seals I needed after I repainted the car. They fit perfectly.

One small issue: Wash the seals once installed to remove what I think was the mold release agent. It had a pervasive odor but is removed with soap and water once installed.

Aftermarket weatherstrip kits range from really crappy to somewhat above average in quality and durability.

There is only one source for really good weathership and that's GM.

The problem is the GM stuff, which is, obviously, made to OE specs and has the durability one expects from new car weathership, is much more expensive.

Consumers concerned more with price than with quality have forced the aftermarket to just about universally go to cheaper materials.

This is not to say that aftermarket weatherstrip won't work. The better aftermarket weatherstrip is ok, it just one last near as look as the more expensive OE stuff and in some cases doesn't seal as well.

I'm looking at redoing the weatherstrip in my 15-year old C4 and I'm going to bite the bullet and buy it from GM.

If I had to go aftermarket because I simply could not pay for the good stuff, I'd buy an aftermarket kit from Zip Products.

ecklers sales weather striping bought some for an 81 had no bad issues with it so i could say i reccomend them plus it seams to me the price has really gone down on weather striping for when i purchased them seems to be much more resonable..
