I had a recent minor offroad excursion in the Vette and now the alignment is off. I took it to three shops and they said it was too low for them to fix. I have done manual adjustments on 86 TA a long time ago, but not on the Vette. Any help on what the settings should be would be great. And since it has been a long time, any advice would help to.

"too low for them to fix"?? Did that mean they couldnt get the car on the alignment rack? Any competent shop should be able to get the car up on their rack to do a good 4-wheel alignment. Sometimes all it takes is a few lengths of 2x12's for the tires to roll over to get the car to clear the ramps.

The Vette suspension design is not anywhere near the same as the F-body which used front struts in place of the Vette's more traditional upper and lower A-arms. The Vette rear suspension, being an independent suspension design, requires adjustments for both toe and camber.

A 4-wheel alignment is the only way to insure that the car tracks properly and if there is a chance you may have bent any suspension component (the A-arms and rear control arms are aluminum) you should have them carefully inspected.

Hope this helps. Thanks for your service :pat Car's lookin' great Bryan :beer
http://www.vettebrakes.com/align.htm I've seen other great stuff, but I lost a bunch on forum changes and a HD implosion :mad

You can actually do it yourself, but I've lost the info. :bash

I HATE offroad excursions, car never, ever, seems quite the same afterwards from my experience, you just get used too it :w

Cruiser, When they said it was too low they said it was because the laser would have problems because of the front bumper.

Moonunit, Thanks man. That helps alot. I just got to crawl up under the car now and see what I can do. I didnt go off road too bad, but obviously enough to knock the alignment off.

I have a Do-It-Yourself 4 Wheel Alignment file I can put up if you like.

You need something that can read .doc files Such as Word. If you can't view it with what you have...go HERE and get the viewer

I thought I'd convert this to PDF for anybody that doesn't have word and doesn't want to install the reader....
