Hate to be a bug here , but my lady was going to have the head gaskets replaced on my 89 auto coupe, that is until today, when i was able to sell my harley. Id like to put in a crate engine, maybe a 383 ? But i need some info to go on.the mech was to start on the head gasket replacement this mon. so i need to tell him what to buy . Would like to dump the l-98 @ 245 hp and move up to somewhere around 400 hp keeping in mind that i have only 13k to work with. Please help me out here if ya can guys. thanks, Doug Castner, aka, captbane@yahoo.com

I saw a nice 383 Combo in Summit from Huntsville Engines, if I remember correctly, they were about $3300 for the short block.

Then I'd spring for a new/used Superram, Accel 219 cam, AFR 195 heads (or similar), and save anything leftover for a Dana 44 rear because the rear on the automatic is weak. And you may need some beefing up done to the automatic anyway.
