So back in the late 70's when I had my 74 vette and CJ5 I'd get out my timing light and tweek them both in no time. Now 30 years later, I cant find my timing light let alone figure out how to use it..

I sould be getting my tripowers back from Craig in Youngstown,Oh. and he gave me torquing directions for the intake and also told me to set the timing to 12 degrees "INITIAL", and replace the existing coil w/ a Summit 40,000 volt Pitronic Flame thrower which I have already recieved.

Can someone tell what that means and also steer me to a site the will guide me through a basic timing job. FYI-I've installed an Igniter electronic point system this past summer.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you all... Jim

go to the tech articles page on my website here:
http://69.253.166.197/page1/page65/page65.html

read the two articles by JohnZ on timing, one is called 'Mapping Advance" and the other one is called "Timing 101"

These two articles should get you ready.

Cant believe I havent tried that yet.Your site has a ton of info.Someday I'll learn how to make 1 of those for myself
I'm still trying to take pictures w/ small size to post on CAC.
Once again,great web site!! Jim

Thanks Jim

find the right program and the website practically builds itself! My website is the very first one I ever made. It's still in progress and lots more to do on it yet but it's workable so far. I have a ton more tech articles I've found and have on my harddrive but need to really organize them so I can determine what would be good ones to add to the website or not.

I found a good program to use to build it that works with my Mac computers and it was easy because it doesn't require knowing any HTML or any other type of programing. It's just as easy as typing a letter into MS Word.

Barry,
Thats easy for you to say!!
Looking forward to sharing some pics of the tripower install.
